Description: Examines existing theories, research, and policies addressing disparities in educational oppor- tunities and achievement among racial/ethnic, social class, and language groups--a problem now conten- tiously designated as the “achievement gap.” Explores the incidence, consequences, and causes of these gaps and society’s interest in eliminating the gaps. Credit is only awarded for EDUC 030 or EDUC 030S.
