Prerequisites: ECON 003 with a grade of “C-” or better; MATH 009A (or MATH 09HA)

Description: A calcu- lus-based course that addresses developing theories of consumers and firms. Provides the foundation for partial equilibrium study of competitive and monop- oly markets. Explores derived welfare properties of competitive markets as benchmarks for evaluating monopolies. Develops theories of monopoly pricing and strategy. Evaluates alternative policies as related to monopoly.

Credit: Credit is awarded for only one of ECON 102 or ECON 104A.
