Description: A study of the development of Italian theatre from the commedia dell’arte to the present. Discusses works by Ruzzante, Machiavelli, Metastasio, Goldoni, Alfieri, Verga, Pirandello, Fo, and Rame. Includes videos of plays, melodramas, and operas. No knowledge of Italian required.
