Prerequisites: restricted to class level standing of sophomore, junior, or senior; or consent of instructor

Description: Analyzes English literature of the Middle Ages. Focuses on its continental backgrounds as needed with the latter read in translation. Examines selected major literary works that illuminate topics such as Christian theology, monasticism, chivalry, and courtly love. Course is repeatable as content or topic changes to a maximum of 8 units.
