Description: Introduces the electrical properties of materials. Includes the electron as a particle and a wave; hydrogen atom and the periodic table; chemical bonds; free-electron theory of metals; band theory of solids; semiconductors and dielectrics; measurements of material properties; and growth and preparation of semiconductors.

Credit: May be taken Satisfactory (S) or No Credit (NC) with consent of instructor and graduate advisor. Credit is awarded for one of the following EE 285C or EE 138.
