Description: MSE 233A in-person section; graduate standing; or consent of instructor. Introduces the principles of electrochemistry and the essential elements of electrochemical corrosion, thermodynamics, and kinetic aspects of Material Sciences. Provides a fundamental understanding of the mechanisms of corrosion, testing, and protection as well as the influence of pH, dissolved gases, dissolved salts, temperature, and biological microorganisms.
Credit: May be taken Satisfactory (S) or No Credit (NC) with consent of instructor and graduate advisor. Credit is awarded for one of the following MSE 233A or MSE 142.
