Description: An overview of fundamental limitations imposed on communication systems. Topics include Shannon’s information measures, weak and strong typicality, lossless data compression, source and channel models and Shannon’s coding theorems, channel capacity and the rate-distortion function, Gaussian sources and channels, and limits of communication between multiple terminals.
