Description: An overview of fundamental limitations imposed on communica- tion systems. Topics include Shannon’s information measures, weak and strong typicality, lossless data compression, source and channel models and Shannon’s coding theorems, channel capacity and the rate-distortion function, Gaussian sources and chan- nels, and limits of communication between multiple terminals.
