Description: Studies the history of Japanese documentary cinema. Teaches strategies for reading nonfiction visual narrative. Explores other forms of documentation controversial in modern Jap- anese history including oral testimony, photography, and internet activism. Topics may include war, war protest, peace activism, environmental activism, nu- clear politics, and green energy. Course is repeatable as topics and instructor change to a maximum of 8 units.
