Description: Studies the history of Japanese documentary cinema. Teaches strategies for reading nonfiction visual narrative. Explores other forms of documentation controversial in modern Japanese history including oral testimony, photogra- phy, and internet activism. Topics may include war, war protest, peace activism, environmental activism, nuclear politics, and green energy. Course is repeata- ble as topics and instructor change to a maximum of 8 units.
