Prerequisites: Student must take the Japanese placement examination

Description: An introduction to the sound system and grammar of Japanese. Emphasizes speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension skills. Classes are conducted in Japanese whenever pos- sible.

Credit: Credit is awarded for only one of the following sequences: JPN 001, JPN 002, and JPN 003; JPN 010A and JPN 010B.
