Description: A research seminar focusing on themes in the study of the American West from the colonial era to the present. Explores migration, expansion, and modern urban development. Includes historical interpretations, readings, discussions, and research. Students complete a paper based on archi- val research, oral history, and material culture. After completing both HIST 273A and HIST 273B, students may repeat the sequence once for credit; total credit for each course may not exceed 8 units.
