Description: Examines existing theories, research, and policies addressing disparities in educational opportunities and achievement among racial/ethnic, social class, and language groups--a problem now contentiously designated as the “achievement gap.” Explores the incidence, consequences, and causes of these gaps and society’s interest in eliminating the gaps.
