Prerequisites: MATH 046, PHYS 040B, ME 010 with a grade of “C-” or better, ME 018
Description: Introduces principles of fluid mechanics relevant to mechanical engineering. Topics include shear stresses and viscosity, fluid statics, pressure, forces on submerged surfaces, Bernoulli and mechanical energy equations, control volume approach, mass conservation, momentum and energy equations, the differential approach, turbulent flow in pipes, and lift and drag.
Credit: Credit is awarded for only one of CHE 114 or ME 113.
