Description: Introduction to world cinema as a fusion of national and international, culturally specific, and globally universal characteris- tics. Topics include realism, the role of world wars, Hollywood’s global reach, alternative aesthetics of third-world cinemas, cross-fertilization between Europe and Asia, and the function of international film festivals and the international film market. Cross-listed with CPLT 024. Fulfills the Humanities requirement for the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences.
