Description: Introduces principles of ecology with emphasis on implications for the conservation of bio- diversity. Topics include physiological ecology, organis- mal adaptations to the environment, life histories, the niche concept, population growth, interspecific inter- actions, and the structure and functioning of commu- nities and ecosystems. Also covers topics in applied ecology and conservation biology. An optional related laboratory course, BIOL 116L, is available.
