Description: Introduces principles of ecology with emphasis on implications for the conservation of biodiversity. Topics include physiological ecology, organismal adaptations to the environment, life histo- ries, the niche concept, population growth, interspe- cific interactions, and the structure and functioning of communities and ecosystems. Also covers topics in applied ecology and conservation biology. An optional related laboratory course, BIOL 116L, is available.
