Description: Surveys the lives and work of women artists in Renaissance Europe from perspectives offered by the latest scholarly litera- ture. Key topics considered are circumstances under which it was possible for women to become artists, how these women evolved from artists practicing in the cloistered convent to artists participating in the competitive public market place, what they painted, and who their patrons were. Cross-listed with AHS 165 and HISE 133. Fulfills the Humanities require- ment for the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences.
