Description: Surveys the lives and work of women artists in Renaissance Europe from perspec- tives offered by the latest scholarly literature. Key top- ics considered are circumstances under which it was possible for women to become artists, how these women evolved from artists practicing in the cloistered convent to artists participating in the competitive pub- lic market place, what they painted, and who their patrons were.
