Description: Introduction to biological energy transduction. Describes the coupling of oxidative phosphorylation and photosyn- thesis to adenosine triphosphate (ATP) synthesis and the coupling of ATP hydrolysis to ion transport, chemo- taxis, molecular motors, biomimetics, and other bio- logical processes on the basis of recent structural and mechanistic studies of the protein complexes involved.
