Description: Introduction to biological energy transduction. Describes the cou- pling of oxidative phosphorylation and photosynthesis to adenosine triphosphate (ATP) synthesis and the coupling of ATP hydrolysis to ion transport, chemo- taxis, molecular motors, biomimetics, and other bio- logical processes on the basis of recent structural and mechanistic studies of the protein complexes involved.
