Prerequisites: graduate standing or consent of instructor; HIST 273A
Description: A research seminar focusing on themes in the study of the American West from the colonial era to the present, including migration, expansion, and mod- ern urban development. Includes historical interpreta- tions, readings, discussions, and research. Students complete a paper based on archival research, oral history, and material culture. After completing both HIST 273A and HIST 273B, students may repeat the sequence once for credit; total credit for each course may not exceed 8 units.
