Description: Introduction to the metropolis Berlin as gateway between the East and West. Explores topography of the city through film, art, music, and lit- erary texts. A study of Berlin’s dramatic transforma- tions as a microcosm of Germany and Europe’s trou- bled history in the twentieth century. Course is con- ducted in English.
