Textbook:

The textbook is is an e-book and is part of MyITLab. Please see the following MyITLab Labs section.

MyITLab Labs:

Eight (8) of the labs will be done from a web site called MyITLab. The cost is $85.

When registering for MyITLab, you will be asked for a course ID. The course ID is gustafson16292.

Click on the following link for complete registration instructions: MyITLab Registration Instructions.

IMPORTANT! Once you have registered, you must enter your Net ID (not Student ID) number into MyITLab and change the timezone settings.

NOTE: Failure to enter your Net ID will result in your MyITLab scores not being included in your grade calculations (meaning you will not get credit for them). Therefore, please perform do the following as soon as you register:

  1. Login to your MyITLab account
  2. Open Getting Started Tab
  3. Open Time Zone and Net ID (screenshot)
  4. Enter Net ID (even though the prompt says Student ID); for example, aalma021 (screenshot)
  5. For the Time zone dropdown, select (GMT -08:00) Pacific Time (US and Canada; Tijuana)
  6. Scroll down until you see the "Save" button and click on it to save

Warning to Mac OSX Users: Some exercises are more difficult to complete using a Mac. Using the virtual keyboard usually helps.

If you have any technical issues with MyITLab, click on this Support link or the Support link at the bottom of the MyITLab login page.

The following are links to videos that show you details on how to use MyITLab:

LearnCS8 (HTML) Labs:

Please read the following instructions carefully as you will need to sign up for 2 different web sites.

The LearnCS8 labs are a set of four (4) labs where you create web pages using HTML. The instructions for each lab come from a site called LearnCS8.com, but the work itself is done using a second web site called Amazon Web Services (AWS).

You will first need to sign up on the LearnCS8 site. The cost is $17.50 + tax, which makes the final cost $18.99.

Note: The site uses Paypal for payment, but you do not need to have or create a Paypal account; Paypal has a "purchase as guest" option that allows you to enter a credit card number.

You will complete the LearnCS8 labs on another web site called AWS (Amazon Web Services).

Though anybody can create a normal AWS account for free, we are using "special" AWS accounts that allow you to share your workspace with your TA.

Click the following link for instructions on how to setup your AWS account:

AWS Setup Instructions

If you have problems setting up your account, please contact a TA for assistance.

Once you have setup your AWS account, you will need to use a special URL in order to login to AWS to do your labs.

AWS Login Page

Note: Once you have completed the first HTML (LearnCS8.com) lab, you must share your AWS workspace with your TA. Following are instructions on how to do this.
