Description: Offers a historical, analytical, and theoretical examination of the cultural formation of criminalization and incarceration in the United States. Contextualizes the US carceral regime’s roots in the cultural- political structures of racial chattel slavery, land conquest, settler colonization, and the statecraft of anti-Black violence.
