Description: Surveys the history of China from the Mongol conquest in the 14th century to the High Qing in the 18th century. Topics include governance, the civil service examination system, kinship, gender, religion, trade, ethnicity, and borderlands. No prior knowledge of Chinese history or Chinese language is required.
