Description: Covers theoretical and scientific approaches to the study of Black youth’s development (birth to late adolescence) from a strengths-based perspective. Considers social contexts including family, peers, schools, neighborhoods, media, and other institutions that inform Black youth’s development. Covers research and theory from psychology, education, sociology, legal studies, and ethnic studies.
