Description: Examines afrological improvisation, a diasporic artform and essential element of jazz. Presents key concepts, pertinent bibliography, and basic discography on jazz since 1950. Covers styles and performers which enables placement in political traditions that draw from Black collective knowledge and engage formations of state, society, and empire.
