Description: Focuses on how diverse histories of colonialism, nation state building, enslavement, and social relations around Blackness combined with historical trajectories of regional social, political, and economic development create regional experiences of Blackness. Traces forms of being and modes of resistance among diasporic Black communities to understand broader Black diasporic experience. Course is repeatable as content or topic changes to a maximum of 8 units.
