Description: Introduces traditional African storytelling and oral narrative performance. Examines selected oral narratives from ancient African civilizations through the continent’s contemporary encounters with European colonization. Includes primary readings of English translations from relevant indigenous African languages. Explores the African storyteller’s craft and uses of the oral narrative.
