Prerequisites: upper-division standing or lower-division English course (other than composition) or consent of instructor

Description: An examination of Holocaust diaries, novels, and poetry in light of various literary, ethical and historiographic debates. Topics include racism and genocide, individual versus collective guilt, trauma and memory, the aesthetics and politics of commemoration, and the problem of how to represent the unrepresentable in language, art, and film.
