Prerequisites: upper-division standing or lower-division English course (other than composition) or consent of instructor

Description: Focuses on Chicana/o children’s literature. Readings cover picture books, juvenile fiction, biography, poetry, novels, and short stories. Some critical questions that guide the course include What does Chicana/o children’s literature share with other contemporary American children’s literature? and How does Chicana/o children’s literature engage with questions of culture, community, individuality, education, and literacy?
