Prerequisites: graduate standing in Chemistry or consent of instructor
Description: Introduces key areas of synthetic organic and organometallic chemistry in a mechanism- based approach. Explores current literature with an emphasis on catalytic asymmetric reactions and their application to the synthesis of biologically active compounds. Surveys the background and history of discoveries leading to the development of new catalytic methodology. Students who present a seminar receive a letter grade; other students receive a Satisfactory (S) or No Credit (NC) grade. Course is repeatable to a maximum of 36 units.
