Description: Examines research methods of linguistic anthropology, providing students with insights into recording and transcription, participant observation, linguistic biography, and ethnography. Includes a quarter-long ethnographic fieldwork project focused on different methods of data collection and analysis. Investigates several ethnographic accounts of linguistic anthropology including issues of evidence, analysis, and theory generation.
