Description: Examines the prevalence of racial segregation of Mexican origin students in U.S. schools, Americanization programs, and community responses to such endeavors in the first half of the twentieth century. Explores the Chicano/a movement’s impact on education throughout the Southwest. Notes the various strategies employed by activists and community members to affect the Chicano/a generation’s education.
