Prerequisites: CS 161 with a grade of “C-” or better
Description: The study of advanced processor design. Topics include CPU pipelining, data and control hazards, instruction-level parallelism, branch prediction, and dynamic scheduling of instructions. Also covers Very Long Instruction Word (VLIW) processing, multimedia support, design of network and embedded processors, basic multiprocessor design, shared memory and message passing, and network topologies.
