Description: Russia under the Romanov dynasty, 1650-1917. Using the twin themes of absolute monarchy and the rise of revolutionary movements, the course deals with such topics as Peter the Great, autocracy, the nobility, serfdom, the radical intelligentsia, and the origins of the Russian Revolution.
