Description: An introduction to twentieth-century and contemporary Native American art. Includes an examination of outside forces that have impacted Native American artists and their work. Topics include colonialist attitudes toward “authenticity”, as well as paternalist government policies and economic factors combined with romanticized ideas of the “noble savage”.
