Prerequisites: EE 115, MATH 149A, MATH 149B; or equivalents

Description: Provides an overview of basic communication techniques and an introduction to optimum signal detection and correction. Topics include sampling and bandwidth; pulse code modulation; line coding and pulse shaping; delta modulation; stochastic approach to bandwidth and noise corruption; white Gaussian noise; matched filter; optimum signal detection; Shannon theorems; and error correction.
