Prerequisites: consent of instructor

Description: The design, synthesis, and evaluation of nucleotides with novel hydrogen- bonding capabilities as well as oligonucleotides capable of regulating gene expression. Discussion of ribonucleic acid catalysis, including possible catalytic functions that have not yet been determined. Students who present a seminar or submit a term paper receive a letter grade; other students receive a Satisfactory (S) or No Credit (NC) grade. Course is repeatable.
