Description: Introduction to history and development of race in Mexico. Examines creation and lasting effects of Casta System. Examines ideologies of Mestizaje and Indigenismo, and changing relationships between indigenous, African descendants, and mestizos in Mexico. Discusses intersections between race, class, and immigration and impacts on national conceptions of race and ethnicity.
