Description: Topics include classical and quantum theories of the electron gas; crystal and reciprocal lattices; crystal symmetries; electrons in a periodic potential; nearly free electrons; tight binding; band structure; metals, insulators and semiconductors; semiclassical dynamics; and semiclassical transport.
