Description: An introduction to laser spectroscopy and chemistry including the principles of laser operation and the use of lasers as spectroscopic tools. Topics will include absorption and emission of light, spectral lineshapes, coherent light sources, Doppler-limited and sub-Doppler high-resolution laser spectroscopy, time-resolved laser spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, chemical lasers and laser chemistry.
