Description: Examines the dispersal and evolution of transplanted African populations throughout the world. Emphasis is on the most recent diaspora between 1600 and 1890 when millions of Africans migrated to the Western Hemisphere. The smaller African communities in Asia, Europe, and the Pacific Islands are also examined. Fulfills either the Humanities or Social Sciences requirement, but not both, for the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences.
