Description: Studies acoustic and optical phonons that affect electrical, thermal, and optical properties of materials. Focuses on the confinement-induced changes of phonon properties in nanostructures and their implications for performance of electronic, ther- moelectric, and optoelectronic devices. Explores pho- non theory, Raman spectroscopy and other phonon characterization techniques, thermal conductivity, and related measurements.
