Description: Explores street dance as a lens to consider issues of cultural transmission, ritual practices, gender and sexuality, Western and non-Western aesthet- ic influences, market forces, and local interests. Familiarizes students with Hip Hop dance scholarship; reconsiders Hip Hop historical narratives through collective enactments; and develops students’ critical analysis skills.
