Prerequisites: CS 161 with a grade of “C-” or better
Description: The study of advanced proces- sor design. Topics include CPU pipelining, data and control hazards, instruction-level parallelism, branch prediction, and dynamic scheduling of instructions. Also covers Very Long Instruction Word (VLIW) pro- cessing, multimedia support, design of network and embedded processors, basic multiprocessor design, shared memory and message passing, and network topologies.
