Description: Explores the major concepts, categories, methodological approaches, and historiography in recent scholarship on the modern world (circa 1800 to the present). Focuses on interregional and interdisciplinary analysis. Course is repeatable as content changes to a maximum of 12 units. 311 / Programs and Courses 311 / Programs and Courses of instructor. Introduces the Hellenistic age as it took shape in the Eastern and Western Mediterranean. Examines how new currents of thought merged with preexisting institutions. Topics include political, social, religious, and intellectual developments.
