Description: An introductory overview of the role of minerals in human life and industrial activities. Topics include the impact of minerals on human health, the role of minerals in modern technologies, asbestos and silica problems, occupational diseases caused by inhalation of mineral dust, and environmental protection in California. May include a field trip.
