Prerequisites: graduate standing or consent of instructor

Description: Examines how material objects complicate oral and textual statements about religious belief and practice. Considers the material dimensions of scripture, ritual objects, and everyday artifacts associated with religion; the agency of objects; and religion and consumer culture.
